A Perceptron Tree
by Anthony Heinz May
Wood
8’ x 8’ x 4’: 850 lbs
My sculptures up-cycle trees felled by storms or removed from parks, streets and civic centers local to where they are installed. In true installation fashion, the art is reclaimed by nature and natural processes inherent to tree forms they emerge from. By fixing attention on parts of nature overlooked as refuse, I employ art as a compass for suppressed realities of nature marginalized for human pursuit of economy and what is defined as progress and success. The intent of my work is to explore/investigate relationships between nature, humans and technology.
